Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information ETCurrency (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects when you use this website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.
Last updated: May 31, 2026
1. Who we are
ETCurrency operates this website, which provides informational parallel-market (unofficial) and official exchange rates, commodity prices, P2P data and related guides for emerging-market currencies. We do not offer accounts, do not hold customer funds, and do not execute currency transactions. You can reach us at [email protected].
2. Information we collect
The website is designed to be used without creating an account. We collect:
- Usage and device data — collected automatically by our servers and hosting/CDN providers, such as IP address, browser type, device type, referring URL, pages viewed and timestamps, recorded in standard server logs for security and diagnostics.
- Approximate location — we infer your country from your IP address (via hosting-provider geolocation headers and a third-party IP lookup) to show locally relevant rates and to set your language. We do not collect precise GPS location.
- Preferences — choices such as your selected country and language are stored in cookies and your browser’s local storage so the site remembers them.
- Information you send us — if you email us or submit a report, we receive the contents of that message and your email address.
We do not knowingly collect financial account numbers, payment-card data, or government identifiers, because the site does not process payments.
3. Cookies and local storage
We use a small number of cookies and local-storage entries:
- Essential / preference — e.g. detected country and language (
pe-detected-country,pe-detected-locale) and your saved locale, used to deliver and remember core functionality. - Analytics — to understand aggregate, anonymised traffic and improve the site.
- Advertising — set by third-party advertising partners (see Section 4) to serve and measure ads.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.
4. Advertising and third-party cookies (Google AdSense)
We may display advertising served by Google and other third-party vendors. In particular:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices and youronlinechoices.eu.
- For more information on how Google uses data when you use our partners’ sites or apps, see Google’s “How Google uses information” page.
Where required (for example, for users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom), we request consent for advertising and analytics cookies before they are set, and pass your choices to our partners using a consent-management framework.
5. Other third-party services
We rely on third-party providers to operate the site, including hosting and content-delivery networks, IP-geolocation lookup, exchange-rate and P2P market data sources, and analytics. These providers process limited data on our behalf and are subject to their own privacy terms.
6. How we use information
- To provide, maintain and improve the website and its content.
- To localise rates and language to your country.
- To secure the site, prevent abuse and diagnose technical problems.
- To display and measure advertising.
- To respond to your enquiries.
7. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process data on the basis of our legitimate interests (operating and securing the site), your consent (for non-essential cookies such as advertising and analytics), and to comply with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to processing, and to data portability. EEA/UK users may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, and opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information; we do not sell personal information for money. To exercise any right, contact us at [email protected].
9. Data retention
We keep server logs and analytics data only as long as needed for the purposes above, then delete or anonymise them. Preference cookies expire as described in your browser or within a short period (typically up to 24 hours for detection cookies).
10. Children
This website covers financial topics and is intended for adults. It is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
11. International transfers
Our providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
